The tatus from Caluya, Antique are a rare and expensiven coconut crabs burrowing on land distributed on islands along the Indian and Pacific Oceans- have found their home in the small island of Caluya in Antique. These elusive creatures can only be caught at night with the help of a flashlight and grilled coconut as bait. But once prepared and serve on the table, its mouth- watering taste can equal famous and best-seller delicacies.
The Caluyans recognize the rarity of the tatus. In gratefulness for the bounty of tatus on their land, the locals celebrate the Tatusan Festival every March. Parades of colorful asnd crab-shaped floats, street-dancing and booth-display of various sizes of tatus are among the highlights of the festival. Old and young people alike crowd the streets and stomp their feet to the beat of the drums.
These festivities are a welcome break for Caluya. Amid their simple and quite lives, they have a raeson to celebrate indeed. After all, among the many coastal communities in Antique, the chose to dwell in their land.
In the 1973 Dyesebel movie, Dyesebel lives in an undersea kingdom of mermaids far from the land of humans because the humans believe that the mermaids are the cause of misfortune. Dyesebel fell in love with a male human being. In order to be with the man that she likes, she swore to find a way to be transformed into a female human being.

In the 1964 movie Dyesebel the feature is the daughter of Dyesebel played by Eva Montez. The original characters are still in this Dyesebel movie. The lead characters of Dyesebel is played by Edna Luna and Fredo is played by Jaime Dela Rosa. The movie "Anak ni Dyesebel" received the same warm patronage as the first Dyesebel movie.
"Ang Daigdig ni Dyesebel" starring Marian Rivera will be finally shown on Monday, April 28, at Kapuso GMA 7. The primer of the teleserye promised an interesting, captivating, high tech, with advanced visual effects.
The Dyesebel story became a national phenomenon in 1953. The story is very Filipino. Dyesebel became a mermaid because of "paglilihi" of her mother. "Lihi" is still a very popular concept in the Phlippines that basically means the offspring will look like the "pinaglihian". "Lihi" is the craving or wanting or unexplained fondness to certain food, color, or creatures mytical or otherwise. The result of "paglilihi" is Dyesebel, she was "pinaglihi" to mermaids. The father wanted to get rid of her to the point of wanting to kill her. Intervention of nature (lightning kept him from executing his plan) saved Dyesebel.
The family relocated to a remote area near a beach and Dyesebel was kept a secret. Here comes the twist of the plot. An evil mermaid witch met Dyesebel and planned to grant her wish to become a full human and be with Dyesebel's love, Fredo. The villian of the story got wind of Dyesebel's secret (being a mermaid) and tried to thwart the lead characters' destiny to be together.
Young televiewers may be surprised to know that Dyesebel's character is way way older than them. I think the first actress to portray this lovely mermaid is Edna Luna (several times mentioned by Mr. Joey De Leon).
To complete the story and surely with better presentation (visual, audio, and reel drama) you should watch the latest version of Dyesebel in GMA 7.

Everybody will look forward to the love story that will develop in this latest version of Dyesebel. Even without following the plot teenage viewers and those young at heart are already "kilig" when they see the couple on TV. It wouldn't be surprising if this love team will become a real life love couple.
